Ok, so why can’t people just be nice and leave each other alone?  We have these neighbors, who shall remain nameless, that are completely harrassing my family.  They are an older couple who I really wanted to like because they are older and have a nice house and such like.  But they have a drinking problem and are pretty much always drunk and they are not nice drunks.  They complain about everything and generally my husband, who is a very sweet, easy going guy, does whatever to make them stop complaining.  He’s very friendly and cordial to them when he sees them out which makes him a better person than me because after all this I have a constant overwhelming desire to flip them off everytime I see them…I don’t but it’s tough to control.  Anyway, this past saturday they call the police to complain about our dogs barking.  Now our dogs do bark a little however they are only out for short periods of time, they are not out barkign all day.  There are numerous dogs in the neighborhood and generally someone’s dog is barking and I think this is where the complaining is coming from.  Either they are not making sure where the barking is coming from before calling or they don’t care and just want to punish us for breathing the same air they do, I’m not sure.  So now animal control has been by and apparently all these neighbors have to do is sign some affidavit and we could be fined $100 for barking dogs when it’s not even our dogs.  They do not have to have any proof and this is what worries me.  Are they going to do this everytime they hear dogs barking?  Where are our rights in all this and how can I protect my family from this harrassment?  They have a dog as well and I am tempted to do this same thing to them but I don’t want to stoop to their level.  OK, I do, but I won’t.  They keep saying they are planning on moving and I wish they would.  I would even purchase the For Sale sign for them and help them pack.  My husband has never been anything but nice to them and they treat him like shit and there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do about it.  He has high blood pressure as it is and I worry that all this added stress will harm him more.  I told him yesterday that if he ends up dying from a heart attack I was going to sue the old people for harrassment.  There’s no reason for this, Paul’s family has lived in that house for years and have never caused any harm to anyone.  If someone out there has any suggestions I would be very open to them….

He’s registered

Wow, my little guy is all registered for pre-school now.  We met his teacher, filled out some paperwork while he played in the classroom.  He even has a name tag for wearing on the bus.  He’s growing up so fast.  I’ll post pictures from his first day on Wednesday.

Scary

So this is scary.  I came home from work today and found 2 police cars on my street.  Apparently 2 houses were broken into today, one right across the street, and 1 two houses down on the same side as me.  I’m happy I have 2 large barky dogs because chances are they’ll scare away anyone trying to get in.  But the robbers must not have a car because they seem to be taking small things like jewelry and electronics anf leaving bigger, more expensive things behind.  But I’ve lived on this street for 8 years now and this is the first time anything like this has happened so close to me.  Makes me feel a little less secure….

Too good?

OK, so I heard a story on the radio somewhere about a boy in little league who may be asked not to play on his team anymore because he’s too good.  I’m having a hard time understanding why his league feels the need to punish him for this.  I’m all for having adults encourage children to do their best so why are we trying to knock this kid down for being good?  Honestly, if the other kids see how well he’s doing, it will encourage them to work harder and strive to play at his level  but if they see the adults telling him he can’t play, then they have no reason to try to better themseves.  What are we telling kids if we penalize them for being successful?  Just my thoughts.
